About this Seminar

Syrine Belakaria is a PhD candidate in Computer Science at Washington State University advised by Prof. Jana Doppa. Prior to her PhD, she received a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Idaho where she was advised by Professor Sameh Sorour and received her Engineering degree in Information Technology from the Higher school of communication of Tunis. She has been awarded the IBM PhD Fellowship (2021-2023) and was selected for the MIT Rising Stars in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (2021). She spent time as a research intern at Microsoft Research and Meta Research. Her general research interests are in the area of AI for science and engineering with a current focus on adaptive experiment design to solve real-world problems including hardware design, materials design, electric transportation systems, and AutoML tasks within the framework of Bayesian optimization.
