Ignacio Pickering
Postdoctoral Fellow
Ignacio Pickering received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Florida, where he worked with Prof. Adrian Roitberg on developing software frameworks for neural network potentials and employing these models for accurate and efficient biomolecular simulations. He also worked with Prof. Ramón Miranda-Quintana on unsupervised learning for chemical space exploration, drug discovery, and small-molecule design.
As a BIDMaP Postdoctoral Fellow at UC Berkeley, Ignacio will work with Prof. Bingqing Cheng to integrate deep learning potential models with generative AI and free energy methods to advance the rational design of materials. By developing workflows that combine artificial intelligence and atomistic simulations, he aims to predict thermodynamic stability and accelerate the development of materials with targeted properties.
