Sarah Jones has recently been appointed Executive Director of the Bakar Institute of Digital Materials for the Planet (BIDMaP) at UC Berkeley. Jones joins UC Berkeley’s College of Computing, Data Science, and Society (CDSS) following a distinguished career at Arizona State University and in the nuclear medicine industry. Research scientists at BIDMaP are focused on developing groundbreaking materials that convert carbon dioxide into clean energy and atmospheric moisture into drinking water. Dr. Jones brings her years of experience in both academia and industry to leverage this research with industry collaboration to drive real-world impact.

Under Jones's leadership, BIDMaP will focus on combining expertise from computer science, data science, and physical sciences to address climate challenges. Her plans include organizing a climate symposium and building industry partnerships to advance these innovations.
